How we notify companies
Last updated: October 28, 2026
A company is never shown as ignoring anyone until we’ve told it about the problem, written down how, and given it time to reply. This page explains exactly what that means.
How we notify
- We email the company’s public support or press contact, the one it publishes for customers or the media, with a link to the problem on My AI Gripe.
- Where a company publishes another official route (an official contact form, or an official public support account or channel), we may use that instead of, or as well as, email. We always link to the problem.
- We never use private or personal addresses, and we never contact individual employees.
What we log
Every notice is logged on the company’s record with three things: the date, the channel (email, contact form, or public channel), and the recipient (the public address or the page we used). An admin can’t mark a company as notified unless all three are filled in. The site rejects it otherwise.
What we show
- Before we’ve notified a company, its page says “Not yet notified”, and nothing counts against it.
- After we notify it, its page and its problems show “Company notified <date> via <channel>”.
- If the company replies, we show “Company replied” with the date, and the reply itself once we’ve checked it really came from the company.
- If the company marks a problem fixed, we show “Fixed” with the date.
When “No reply” appears
A company gets at least 14 days after a documented notice before “No reply” can appear on any of its problems. A problem posted after the notice gets its own 14 days, counted from when it was posted. If a company claims its page, the same 14 days apply from the claim. Any verified reply removes “No reply” from that problem.
Keeping it fair
- Companies respond for free. No one can pay to be notified later, to stop the clock, or to hide a problem. See Our promise.
- If we got a notice wrong (wrong address, wrong date, or you never received it), email [email protected] and we’ll correct the record. Until it’s sorted, we’ll take “No reply” down.
